AP Studio Art 2-D

Students create a portfolio of work to demonstrate the artistic skills and ideas they have developed, refined, and applied over the course of the year to produce visual compositions. This portfolio of work comprised of three sections is submitted for evaluation at the end of the school year. Students work with diverse media, styles, subjects, and content and are asked to document their artistic ideas and practices to demonstrate conceptual and technical development over time.

The 3-D Design portfolio involves decision making about how to use the elements and principles of art as they relate to the integration of depth, space, volume, and surface, either actual or virtual. Portfolios are evaluated based on standardized scoring descriptors aligned with skills and understanding developed in college foundation courses.

Great literature is a cultural exploration of self.  Students in AP Literature and Composition look at themselves through the lens of the American and British Canon.  They read and write argumentatively every day to prepare for the May exam.  Students keep track of their timed writings, essays, and revisions in a personal data folder. Students receive feedback in the areas of diction, syntax, organization, and overall efficacy of argument.

AP Calculus BC is roughly equivalent to both first and second semester college calculus courses and extends the content learned in AB to different types of equations and introduces the topic of sequences and series. The AP course covers topics in differential and integral calculus, including concepts and skills of limits, derivatives, definite integrals, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and series. The course teaches students to approach calculus concepts and problems when they are represented graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally, and to make connections amongst these representations.
