The IBHS AICE Program

 

Overview

The Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Program features a broad-based, international curriculum which emphasises a broad-based, flexible, and balanced program of study. Through this pre-university coursework,  students develop in-depth knowledge within a variety of subjects, while mastering a broad range of skills deemed as critical for success in university studies and future employment. 

The Cambridge AICE Diploma is achieved when a student successfully completes (and passes the accompanying exams, with a score of A - E,  for) a total of seven individual Cambridge International AS & A Level courses, from across four subject groups:

Group 1: Mathematics and Sciences

Group 2: Languages

Group 3: Arts and Humanities

Group 4: Interdisciplinary subjects (optional)

Students must achieve at least one credit from each of Groups 1, 2 , and 3. A maximum of two credits can also be added from Group 4. Last, student must successfully complete and pass the exam for Global Perspectives & Research.


Application requirements for CURRENT Lee County Students:

• Unweighted cumulative middle school GPA ≥ 3.0

• Level 3 or higher on most recent FAST ELA and Math 

assessments

Once accepted as an AICE student, it is expected that students maintain the academic expectations of each course. Advancement within the curriculum is contingent upon meeting the requirements AND earning teacher recommendations for EACH course.  

Students enrolled in IBHS, but who are not currently taking AICE courses, may be recommended by their teacher for AICE coursework the following year, depending on prerequisite coursework.
